Six countries list Hezbollah or its security arm as a terrorist organization: the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands, and Australia. However, Hezbollah is highly regarded as a legitimate resistance movement in most of the Arab and Muslim worlds. Hezbollah first emerged as a militia in response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, set on resisting the Israeli occupation of Lebanon.
